Illinois Drive Sober Labor Day Campaign

You are here: Home / DUI/DWI / Illinois Drive Sober Labor Day Campaign

August 26, 2017 by Law Offices of Ronald L. Bell

Drive Sober Or Get Pulled OverWith the Labor Day holiday just around the corner, many are making plans to celebrate the end of summer with picnics, parties or going out on the town.

In anticipation of the holiday, Illinois law enforcement will be on the lookout for drunk or drug-impaired drivers as part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, running from August 21 through September 5.

Unfortunately, the holiday weekend can be one of the deadliest for motorists across the country due to increased incidences of drunk driving. Alcohol-impaired driving accounts for nearly one-third of all traffic-related deaths annually and law enforcement officers typically see spikes around the Labor Day weekend.

Illinois DUI convictions can be costly. Drivers may face any number of punishments including penalties, fines, and even incarceration and vehicle forfeiture in some cases. Some drivers will be required to install Ignition Interlock Devices at their own expense, attend drug and alcohol programs or complete community service. An Illinois DUI conviction will likely cause your drivers license to be revoked.
